A Stunning Feast of Circus, Acrobatics and Culture
The Palestinian Circus bring a stunning show to the Fringe this year, blending culture and circus into an immersive and intricate hour of entertainment. It is a brilliant show, filled with incredible dance and death defying circus acts.
This is an incredibly talented troupe of performers. They dance together excellently and all get the chance to showcase their skills. They juggle, diablo, dance and perform aerial acrobatics to excellence. It is a thrilling show, and one that relies purely on the cast’s skills. It has little flash to it, not having many props or large sets, so it does have to rely on a skillful group that don’t let you down. They simply never falter and always manage to build their acts to the final phenomenal trick. The aerial work in particular is impressive, a variety of the troupe jump up poles, straps and ribbons and then dance in the air.
The most joyous moments of the show often come within the dance numbers. They are slickly done with utter conviction from the performers. It is also a joy to get a showcase of Palestinian Culture from the dancing, and the other parts of the show. Each showcases elements of the culture beautifully. They warmly bring you in and want to share pieces of themselves with you. A joy to watch, almost becoming emotional during parts. The whole cast handles the performance with elegance and beauty, which culminates in a wonderful show.
This circus advocates for a number of causes in Palestine, and are trying to remove boundaries for people who want to perform. It is an absolutely amazing aim and cause that they fight for, and one that should be applauded. They are raising funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians during their run as well, which is a worthwhile UK based charity for Palestinians. There is a genuine care from this circus which is beautiful and only adds to the work they have managed to produce at the fringe.
The Palestinian Circus are a talented bunch of performers who are sharing their culture and talents with the Fringe. It is breathtaking and well worth a watch, and it will surely not disappoint.
