‘Deliciously delulu!’

In Pleasance Courtyard, found in the Cabaret Bar, Sophie Duker energetically bursts into the crowd hyping up an already excited audience. From the moment she appeared on stage she had the audience captivated and it wasn’t long before we were all laughing.

Exploring themes of daddy issues, sugar or otherwise, sexuality and how we are perceived by others, Duker’s show was funny, relatable and insightful. Her comments on hot girl energy, the cost of living crisis and living for the plot were both witty and timely.

Sophie shares the delulu that surrounds her in life, from her Mum’s strange collecting, to her Dad’s 2am texts, as well as her own unusual exploits as she pursues a life in comedy.

With a particular focus on her relationship with her Dad, who we see represented in the room, she shares exactly what it is like to go to therapy with your father.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to team up with your Dad to tackle your daddy issues, then Sophie’s show can give you a peak into just how successful facing family trauma head on can be, or perhaps not?

The show has a bit of everything, storytelling, snappy punchlines, audience interaction and even some singing. Looking around the full auditorium, quite the feat for her opening performance, it was clear that the crowd were having a good time.

The show is hilarious, sexy and dare I say it, ‘cool’ and you will walk out of the Cabaret Bar empowered to embrace your own levels of delulu.
