“Different in all the best ways”

Looking at the description it’s hard to really put this show into a box. Led by NON STYLE star Akira Ishida, this theatre piece is genuinely one of the most refreshing pieces of theatre I’ve ever seen.

The show touches on a myriad of styles, from mime to juggling to shadow puppetry, often as a surprise, and usually is met with huge laughter. Searching for other audience responses to validate my experience I came across many using the word unique, a word often overused when it comes to art but this show is truly unique.

Akira Ishida takes us on a touching journey of a man filled with hope, and at the end I found myself quietly weeping with empathy. Important to know is that the show is non-verbal, making it extremely accessible and the themes are suitable across age groups.

If I had to describe it I’d say, mime/circus/magna/narrative storytelling/competition/dance show, which… is definitely hard to sum up. But what isn’t hard to sum up is the joy and inspiration that filled my day post show. From laughter to tears to drama this show gives a truly unique fringe experience that all of us would be lucky to see.
