“If little orphan Annie grew up to be a kick ass comedian”

She’s silly. She’s sad. She’s horny. And she can play the piano. A pretty solid tagline for a show which does exactly what it says on the tin.

Jamie Lerner is the comedian taking us through her upbringing, dating and complex relationship with wanting to lick peoples faces. From the off she’s affable, navigating the awkward timeslot for dark rude comedy by addressing it and calling the two older men ‘daddy’.  It charms the audience and she never loses us.

Where she shines is in the details, the specificity allowing the show to be more personal and less like a stranger relating to our experiences, Jamie gives us hers and we laugh along. Vocally she’s impressive and even if the chords are the same every song has it’s own unique identity.

It currently lacks a bit of narrative for a full show, feeling a little disconnected in places – but that doesn’t ever stop us from enjoying the show!

If you like musical comedy, this is some of the best.
