Amber Spooner’s play premieres at The Bread and Roses Theatre with Mon Sans Productions.
Amber Spooner, a London-based stage technician and playwright, is set to make her mark on the theatre scene with the premiere of her debut play, The Various Methods of Escape. The production, brought to life by Australian theatre company Mon Sans Productions, will run at The Bread and Roses Theatre from December 3 to 14.
The gripping drama follows the story of Grace, an 18-year-old woman who escapes after 12 harrowing years in captivity. Returning to her family, Grace embarks on a journey to carve out a new life while grappling with the lingering shadows of her past.
Amber first developed the play as part of The Hive, a creative program by The Street Theatre in Canberra, Australia, in 2019. It later caught the attention of Mon Sans Productions’ artistic director, Liviu Monsted, during a script development event, Script in Hand, in 2020.
“I saw the audience’s fascination with the premise and unique theatrical structure, I was compelled to produce the show under the Mon Sans Productions banner” said Liviu Monsted.
Despite facing delays due to COVID lockdowns, the play premiered to sold-out audiences in Sydney in 2022. Now, with a talented London-based cast, including Maisie Tiedeman, Mitch Howell, Michelle Huirama, Violet Fink, and Mark Brent, Mon Sans Productions is making its international debut with this powerful work.
“Given the universal themes and alluring premise of this play, it is a perfect fit for Mon Sans Productions first step into the London theatre scene” added Monsted.
Tickets for The Various Methods of Escape are available now for performances at The Bread and Roses Theatre, 68 Clapham Manor Street, London.
