FEATURE: Making It!

Running from Thursday 1st May to Saturday 17th May 2025, Making It! comes to Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre with a fresh, funny and heartfelt look at life behind the curtain. This new comedy is perfect for anyone who’s ever pursued a dream—or been knocked off course along the way.

Bev is a singer, actress and cabaret performer with four decades of near-misses, big hopes and backstage stories to tell. Tonight, she’s back at the Kirkby Boilermakers and Shipbuilders social club—an infamous venue you only play twice: once on the way up, and once on the way down. As she prepares for what could be her final performance, she reflects on a life in showbiz filled with colourful characters, close calls with fame, and a few too many broken promises.

Originally performed in 2018 as Our Bev’s Christmas Cracker, a one-woman show that won a Liverpool Echo Theatre Award and sold out its run, Making It! has now been reworked for the main stage by writers Stephen Fletcher and Cath Rice. This new version stars Cath Rice as Bev and features Andrew Schofield in a dynamic supporting role, bringing to life the many figures who shaped her journey.

Directed by Stephen Fletcher and designed by Katie Scott, the production is sharp, character-driven and packed with both humour and warmth. It’s a celebration of resilience, timing, and the grit required to keep going—even when the spotlight fades.

Whether you’re a lifelong theatre lover or just after a great night out, Making It! is a smart, engaging piece of theatre that hits the right notes.

Runs Thursday 1st May – Saturday 17th May 2025 at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre. Tickets available now.
