Childhood ruining in the best of ways.
Trigger Happy Productions has returned to the Fringe stage with their childhood ruining, engrossing parody performance. Taking pride of place on the Assembly Main stage, the cast has set the bar high for this year’s fringe with their queer, inclusive and downright fun show. Complete with a light following of the DreamWorks classic—though completely separate for legal purposes—this show has everything going for it.
A mix of drag, burlesque, dance, acro and pop culture, this show does the most in its hour and ten minute slot. Unapologetic and proud, all bodies are celebrated, praised and enjoyed in this show. If you want the opportunity to scream to your heart’s content as a gingerbread person engages in a childhood ruining striptease, look no further than Swamplesque. This show will have you clutching your pearls and your stomachs in equal measure while also dodging costume pieces and fearing the splash zone.
Viewers beware, the cast delivers on their promises. Nudity features heavily throughout almost every act with seasoned burlesque performers strutting their stuff proudly. A show not for the faint of heart or easily scandalized, it serves queer joy wrapped in all the trappings of popular culture. Its source material, used to great effect, only serves to propel the hilarity and genius of this fast paced performance art forward. The element of fun in this piece cannot be understated. The performers love what they do and they show up and do it; for that it deserves all the love and praise it has received in past and current iterations.
If you want to catch this raucous and engrossing show, get your tickets now as it is sure to sell out! Come early to make sure you get the best seats possible as queues begin to form an hour and a half before the show.
Performing nightly until the 24th at Assembly Main Hall, 9:30pm. 16+ attendees only.
