A fantastic production that is as incredible as it is unique
If you’re searching for an experience like none other at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, then you most certainly don’t want to miss Darkfield’s EULOGY. A show that truly takes you on a journey through its premise, the reviews I had read beforehand truly doesn’t do this show justice! I kept my expectations ambiguous as I entered, and was still delighted and stunned by the overall experience.
EULOGY is living proof that talented and passionate people behind a show will create a magically compelling story. It is also proof that visuals are not the only important aspect of a show. Only one of several of Darkfield’s productions, EULOGY immerses the audience straight from the beginning, with the story shaped by a mysterious voice guiding the viewer through. Reality, theatre, and dream blend unsettlingly together to produce a show that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
In a time where imagination seems to be hard to come by, this particular Darkfield‘s show is clever, unnerving, and wholly unique. The show doesn’t stop when you walk out: despite having seen other shows not long after, EULOGY stuck in my mind, and is an experience I would return to more than once.
While the show is, in my opinion, perhaps unsuitable for those with claustrophobia or a fear of death, it is a powerful experience indeed that pushes the limits of what ‘theatre’ really is. If you have a free half hour, and a desire to have the hair on the back of your neck stand up, then this is the show to see!
(EULOGY is a Darkfield production on at the Edinburgh Fringe in Summerhall from the 1st to the 24th August. Various times are available. Link to tickets: https://www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/eulogy.)
