REVIEW: Spend Spend Spend

Reading Time: 3 minutesSpend, Spend, Spend is a vibrant musical at the Royal Exchange Theatre, chronicling the life of Viv Nicholson, a football pools winner. With humor and depth, it showcases her rise and fall through wealth, loves lost, and personal struggles. Strong performances, especially by Julie Armstrong and James Lyne, enhance its engaging storytelling.

REVIEW: 2:22 A Ghost Story

Reading Time: 2 minutesI’m usually not one for horror shows, always hiding behind my hands or a cushion. But "2:22 A Ghost Story" was so gripping that I couldn’t take my eyes off it! Danny Robins' writing is spot on, creating a mix of unease and curiosity that kept me hooked.

REVIEW: Birthmarked

Reading Time: 2 minutesBirthmarked is a groundbreaking concept gig that intricately weaves music, storytelling, and personal revelation into a captivating performance. Written and performed by Brook Tate, this show tells his story of being a young gay Jehovah's Witness coming to terms with the loss of his entire family upon coming out. We were given a rare glimpse behind the curtain of a religion often unfamiliar to many. One surprise to me was that a Jehovah’s Witness’s children’s book had a graphic depictions of men being stoned.
