REVIEW: Twelfth Night

Reading Time: 3 minutesViola lands on the shore of Illyria after losing her twin brother in a shipwreck. She dresses as a boy, calls herself Cesario and goes to work for a rich Duke called Orsino. What follows is brilliantly ordered chaos in which we find a love triangle, mistaken identity (of course) and ye olde classic resolution device of marriage to wrap it all up. It’s a story that has entertained audiences for centuries and this showing is no exception.

REVIEW: At Birth

Reading Time: 2 minutesAt Birth opens with us meeting Anna and Isaac, at home, drinking wine, and discussing their earliest childhood memories. We learn both of them are queer as their discussion moves onto their recent breakups which both of them still seem to be getting over.

REVIEW: F**cking Men

Reading Time: 3 minutesF**king Men is a dramatic comedy written by Joe DiPietro currently playing at the Waterloo East Theatre. First premiering in 2009 at the Kings Head Theatre, this show has gone through many different iterations with varying cast sizes and some updating of the script in order to keep it current and relevant.

REVIEW: In PurSUEt

Reading Time: 2 minutesIn PurSUEt is a one woman show about stalking Sue Perkins. This premise, coupled with the silly promo shots with a life-sized cardboard Sue, led me to expect pure frivolity; in actuality, writer-performer Eleanor Higgins’ debut show has a lot to say about obsession, addiction and denial – whilst also packing in the laughs.
