REVIEW: A Lady With A Dog

Reading Time: 3 minutesMaking our way into the generously sized pub theatre Upstairs at the Gatehouse in North London, the audience were met with Jazz Age tunes, as the world of this Chekhovian-inspired play, written and directed by Mark Giesser began to be created. I sat admiring the beautifully painted set, which illustrated a pier that would create the backdrop for the meeting place of unlikely lovers Ann Dennis (played by Beth Burrows) and Damien Granville (played by Richard Lynson). 

REVIEW: The Verge of Forever

REVIEW: INVASION! An Alien Musical

Reading Time: 3 minutesINVASION! is being put on as part of Camden Fringe and is created by the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society (CUMTS), with the show being written and directed by Jonathan Powell and Jasper Robin, and composed by Lily Blundell. CUMTS can lay claim to being the original home of the worldwide smash hit that is SIX the Musical, however this show fails to live up to those lofty heights.

REVIEW: JALI by Oliver Twist

Reading Time: 3 minutesJali is a one man show, written, performed, and directed by Oliver Twist. A refugee from Rwanda who ends up resettling in Australia and gaining Australian citizenship. The show was first performed in Australia and was nominated for a number of awards including “Best Newcomer” and “Best Independent Production” at the Sydney Theatre Awards and also received rave reviews with 5 stars from OUT in Perth and 4 stars from the Sydney Morning herald. I am not one to be contrarian for the sake of it, but I did not leave this show with such a positive opinion.
