We sat down with Yanexi Enriquez from Brixton House’s Cinderella and asked her a few questions just as the five week long run gets underway.

You’re playing Sindi-Ella in Brixton House’s Cinderella this year, how are rehearsals going?

It’s been a lot of fun! We had a local school in to watch one of our rehearsal runs and it was so joyous seeing how much they connected to our version of Brixton and all the new exciting twists we’ve put on the classic characters from Cinderella.

What makes this Cinderella different to all the other Cinderellas on this Christmas?

There is something for everyone, young kids, teens and adults. Our Sindi Ella is an activist in her own right, she cares about saving Brixton, bringing the community together and sustainability. I think it really highlights how powerful we can be and how much we can grow if we all come together and support each other. I think our production will make people wanna shake a leg, laugh and they’ll surely leave the theatre in the festive spirit.

You’ve worked at Brixton House before, why is it such a special venue?

I’m yet to work in a venue that is as inviting to such a wide range of audiences.  The work Brixton House put on allows a lot of people to feel seen as well as recognised. They’re also great at promoting new ideas and writing.

What can audiences expect from the production?

The audience can expect a lot of joy, banging tunes & seeing the Brixton they know and love represented on stage but with a lot of fun twists, surprises & magic!

What are you looking forward to the most this festive season?

I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends that I haven’t seen in a while, and drinking hot chocolate at any possible opportunity!
