Award-winning Aussie duo The Listies return to Edinburgh Fringe with their hit show Make Some Noise as part of the House of Oz 2025 season. Expect a riotous mix of silly songs, chaotic sketches and laugh-out-loud antics in this comedy concert for all ages. Matt Kelly and Richard Higgins bring their trademark ‘kidult’ humour in a high-energy performance packed with puns, inflatable tube people and musical mayhem.
Thank you for chatting with A Young(ish) Perspective! Introduce us to who you are and what your doing at the Edinburgh Fringe this year?
We’re The Listies and we’re bringing our show Make Some Noise — a music-filled sketch comedy for Kidults (kids and their grown-ups). It’s back by Poop-ular demand too!
A Youngish Perspective platforms accessible arts and champions the huge scope of different perspectives – can you tell us about the show you’re taking to Edinburgh Festival Fringe as if you’re flyering to both a young first-time-Fringe goer and a festival veteran returning every year?
“It’s guaranteed LOLz for anyone aged 5 to 500 — we’ve sold out 11 Fringes, so you should probably come see why.” Also everyone who comes gets a free puppy * *(parents must supply own puppy)
After over a decade performing together, how have you seen the crowds change and how does that effect your content?
Our audience has grown up with us, so we try to make shows that work across ages — big, fun and stupid enough for everyone to enjoy. We’ve had people had both their 8th and 18th birthdays at our shows! It’s a wonderful privilege to be a part of people’s lives for so long.
You have made it a point to make your show not only appealing to children but also to adults, how are you able to engage older audiences while also ensuring that the children are at the forefront of your mind?
We take the everyday mess and madness of family life and turn it into full-blown, laugh-out-loud mayhem — maybe the secret is that everyone feels seen, heard… and misunderstood.
Who would your surprise dream audience member be?
Bluey. We’d love to make her laugh.
