Honed to perfection, ‘I Can’t Tell What She’s Saying’ oozes Rosie Jones’ outrageous humour in every line

Rosie Jones has her audience under her spell the instant she enters the room. A glint in her eye and glee on her face, we anticipate she is about to exercise her trademark mischief, and we are not disappointed. I Can’t Tell What She’s Saying is an incredibly well structured tour through Rosie’s childhood, adolescence and finally her present – all through the lens of finding love for both herself and others. However, don’t be fooled – this is no wholesome journey of romantic discovery, rather, Jones finds every opportunity to thrill and shock us with her observations which frequently border on perversity. It is impossible to predict the direction of this inventive comedy hour, but early on you are assured by Rosie Jones’ charm that whatever follows will be hilarious.

Jones delights in exploiting what she calls her ‘double box tick’ – being a performer who is both gay and disabled. Through balancing sharp social observations with a healthy dose of mockery and ridicule, Jones exemplifies the representation she advocates for, all the while proving there is far, far more to her than simply a representative box tick. Her comedy treads a perfectly judged line between the celebratory, the critical and the simply outrageous – it is brilliant to behold.

Rosie Jones attracts an audience demographic of impressive range and manages to have the entire room in stitches, which is no small feat. Attending I Can’t Tell What She’s Saying is a guaranteed outstanding night of comedy – you’d be daft to miss it.
