Alex Halstead

Alex has been writing reviews for A Young(ish) Perspective since July 2022. A passionate writer and performer, he trained as an actor several years ago, before the world had even heard of Covid-19. Although his personal trajectory hasn't quite gone as he originally planned, he has been turning his hand to playwriting and has aspirations of making a return to acting and theatre-making in the near future. Alex is always especially interested in reviewing performances that touch upon issues of identity, particularly in relation to gender, sexuality, disability and neurodiversity.

REVIEW: The Moors

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe Moors, by American playwright Jen Silverman and showing at the Hope Theatre from the 11th October – 5th November, is an evocative piece of gothic horror that riffs on the experiences, imaginations and preoccupations of the Brontë sisters.

REVIEW: The West

Reading Time: 3 minutesHold onto your hats and be prepared to take centre-stage in this rip-roaring romp through the Wild West. This is immersive storytelling at its best with a dynamic and thoroughly engaging cast, all of whom seem to revel in the opportunity to flex their impressive improvisational muscles.
