REVIEW: Roger Prick Sexopolis @ Jelly Belly at Underbelly Cowgate

Reading Time: 2 minutesRoger Prick is back in town, this time launching his brand-new erotic memoir while unveiling some much-needed updates to his literary classics for the modern, “awoken” era. Complete with new and improved illustrations and edits designed to appease the Bechdel test, there is apparently no longer any sexist content in his books. Just don’t buy the old copies second-hand as Prick himself warns, “The sticky pages are your fault.”

REVIEW: BLISS The Musical @ Pleasance Courtyard

Reading Time: 2 minutesOn paper, BLISS has all the ingredients of a West End hit. Produced by the powerhouse team behind Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller, and boasting a cast stacked with West End performers, expectations were naturally high. On the outside, it looks exceptionally promising.

REVIEW: Baby Everything @ Tech Cube 0, Summerhall

Reading Time: < 1 minuteComedian Lee Minora’s Baby Everything bursts with playful charm from start to finish. Minora has found every opportunity for creative detail to bring to life her whirlpooling whistle-stop tour through the chaos of modernity. Minora crafts a brilliantly relatable persona, in absolute denial of the devastating world she navigates but nevertheless uprooted by it. 

REVIEW: Finlay Christie: Champagne Casanova @ Monkey Barrel Comedy 4

Reading Time: 2 minutesThis show made me feel young, being a year older than Finlay, seeing him explain what an incel was to someone in the front row must be the gen z equivalent of hearing someone explain the internet to your parents 20 years ago. Being a zoomer isn’t the only embarrassing identity Finlay flaunts on stage, he is a self admitted, posh, comfortable, trauma free comedian who in his own words “can afford to keep doing stand up even if you think I’m bad”. Finlay gets us onto his side fairly quickly, doing better than a lot of trust-fund comedians do at the fringe, mostly by telling some hilarious, embarrassing stories that paint him as the butt of the joke.

REVIEW: Olga Koch: Fat Tom Cruise @ Pleasance Courtyard

Reading Time: 2 minutesHave you ever wanted to see a theatrical hour of comedy with jokes about fraternity hazing rituals, the Hague, and the American civil liberties union? Me neither but Olga Koch weaves them all into a high octane comedy show exploring fear and gender all while sprinkling in some gripping stories and emotional curveballs.

REVIEW: Couplet: Folk Marry Kill @ Assembly George Square Studios – Studio Five

Reading Time: 2 minutesCopy and Paste ReArmed with a fiddle, guitar and a decade of monogamous romantic relationship woes to mine for material, Marnina and Micah offer up a collection of stories so bizarre they must surely be true. This year, they return with another hour of consensual folking in Couplet: Folk Marry Kill.

Reading Time: 2 minutesWith competition hot on the ice for Heated Rivalry parodies this year, following the Canadian TV show’s meteoric rise to fame, it is little wonder that hordes of fans flocked to witness a comedic rendition of their new favourite tear-jerking drama. Heated Rivalry: The Musical Parody did not disappoint.
